Online Evaluation and Therapy Services
TELETHERAPY
At Play on Speech Therapy, we offer evaluation and therapy services to children and families throughout the State of Michigan via teletherapy. Whether you are social distancing, live outside of our in-person coverage area, or simply do not have time to travel to another appointment, teletherapy is an evidence-based and convenient option.

Just as with in-person therapy, our online sessions are individualized to each client's age, goals, and needs to ensure our clients are engaged in the learning process. If you would like to discuss teletherapy as an option for your child please contact us today.
How exactly does telepractice work?
During an online therapy session, we use the same evidence-based approaches as we use during in-person therapy to engage clients in the learning process. Our secure online platform allows for interactive activities, face-to-face interaction, and opportunities to practice skills in the child's natural environment. Families need access to a computer or tablet with an internet connection as well as an internal or external microphone and speakers.
Are there situations when teletherapy is not an appropriate choice?
As with any service delivery model, there are some limitations to online therapy despite the undeniable benefits. In some cases, the needs and goals of a child may require in-person, face-to-face sessions to support overall outcomes. Whenever necessary, we will engage the child and parents in a trial teletherapy session to determine if online therapy is an appropriate option.
What about teletherapy adding to the amount of screen time my child is already getting?
Teletherapy services are different from the type of idle screen time experienced when watching TV or YouTube. Our online therapy sessions are interactive and socially engaging, providing for a rich educational experience. For younger children, for whom screen time should be minimal, we will primarily use the coaching model where the parent is primarily engaged with the screen.
Do you allow families to change between in-person and online sessions throughout the course of therapy?
Teletherapy is always an option for families who need to cancel in-person sessions due to scheduling conflicts, inclement weather, COVID related concerns, etc. For families who are primarily accessing services online, there may be times when an in-person visit is appropriate. We are committed to providing services in the more appropriate environment for the child to make progress and will do our best to accommodate family's needs as we work together.
